Buckingham Palace
For those of you who know me...I'm not a festival-goer by any means. It's just not my thing. (The idea of being covered in mud, camping under the stars, communal showering -or not showering at all, all whilst hanging out in a farmers field sends shivers through me..). However, when I was offered tickets for The Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace --I though, just maybe I could be converted to festival living..
Buckingham Palace Gardens
As you can well imagine, stepping into the private gardens at Buckingham Palace is like finding yourself in a different world. You feel dwarfed by the complete lushness of it all. I mean, look at the size of those trees!!
Royal Chimney Sweep: Milborrow & Sons
The gardens were filled with all sorts of interesting people. This guy was my favourite ..a total Mary Poppins Moment -- I couldn't help but sing "Chim Chimney" under my breath...you know the song. An array of Royal Warrant Holders set up in beautiful white garden tents -proudly showing their products and services --all fit for THE Queen and her family.
Buckingham Palace Gardens
Rows and rows of crisp white garden tents displaying the very best of British craftsmanship made for the poshest "High Street" in town.
Alice in Wonderland Crew
How do you make a Buckingham Palace experience even more magical? Invite the cast of Alice in Wonderland to mingle with your guests. These guys were great.
Buckingham Palace Gardens: Coronation Festival Magic
Of course, I couldn't help myself -- one "card" to another! Just one of the many elements that made the Coronation Festival a magical experience.
Buckingham Palace Concert Area
This was the scene at the beginning of the evening: The palace converted into a musical venue. The seats are all but empty as people were too busy enjoying Pimms, traditional Fish & Chips, and all sorts of British summer favourites. Once the concert started, we saw performances by the home-grown talents of: The Feeling, Russel Watson, Katherine Jenkins, Katie Melua and Welsh choir Only Boys Aloud, to name just a few..
Buckingham Palace Glow
The end of an enchanted evening was crowned by passing through the front gates of the palace.
Now. Ask me if I am a festival-goer..?
Yours truly,
Lord Frewbe
