Who doesn't love an afternoon milling in a crowd of beautiful people, sipping Pimms and watching the Polo? The weather was borderline uncivilised but the afternoon was lush nontheless.
The Grand Stands
The "well healed" crowd (My friend's Dad uses this expression all the time - I love it!) watching the match. Why does this picture remind me of one of the final scenes from BABE?
Polo Action
Each "Chukker" is only seven minutes long ...but completely action packed. Six chukkers seem to fly by before you know it. Its truly a thrilling game to watch.
Half Time
The point in the game everybody loves....The "Pretty Woman" moment --a long standing tradition, where spectators are able to enter the field during Half Time for the "Divot Stomp."
The Pimms Bus
I ask you...what Polo Match would be complete without a Pimms Bus?? To be completely honest, I'm not sure why we don't see more of these beauties in service!! (Pimms Buses not Route Master Buses) Perhaps we could petition TFL to give them their own route? Pimms is a perfect compliment to any British summer sporting activity.
Lord Frewbe & Friends
Had a great day walking around the Hurlingham grounds with friends. As I mentioned, the weather was absolutely dreadful, but we soon found ourselves distracted by the Polo Match (sounds obvious, but there was so much going on), the Pimms Bus, and the food venues ....I promise you, we did not go hungry or dry!!
Yours truly,
Lord Frewbe
