Putney Pumpkin Patch. London
Yup --I'm writing about it again. Halloween is by far, my most favourite time of the year. And nowhere does it better than my home town in Cape Breton. (Actually 'Town' is a big word for the small community where I grew up --but let's use it for lack of a better word.)
The above picture was taken in London. My friend Pam (another relocated North American) decided to have a pumpkin carving party the weekend before Halloween.
It gave me some good practice before the main event.
Our Front Yard View
Living and working in London definitely has its advantages. For a major city, mixed in amongst its centuries-old historic landmarks, it has many beautiful green and country-feeling spaces.
But how can you beat having this view from your front yard? You can only get this untouched beauty on The Bras d'Or Lakes, in rural Cape Breton. (Perhaps I am biased...but just look at that view.)
Our Dog Zach
This time of year acts as a showcase for the island's many spectacular Autumn colours.
Our dog Zach loves rolling around in the fallen leaves on the front lawn.
(That's my excuse for not raking them up..)
Cape Breton Cottage
This cottage in Sydney is a total throwback to the English countryside.
Perhaps we can have the best of both worlds?
Will I ever grow up...?
You bet I dressed up for Halloween!
Proud Mamma
This is my mom Moya. Also known as, 'Maker of the demon.'
And by 'Demon', I mean my costume.
The Next Generation
These two ladies, Karen and Janice, grew up with my brother and me as neighbours.
Not so long ago, it was us four, running from door to door trick-or-treating.
Keeping to tradition, they now bring their kids around our old neighbourhood.
Trick-or-Treating in the Country
With no fancy sidewalks marking our streets, we use the old country roads and paths to get from house to house on Halloween night.
Modern Goblins
Actually, I would be lying if I lead you to believe, we all walked from door-to-door. With expanding families, comes varying visiting obligations.
Nicole and Cecelia. our other neighbours, dropped in with their little 'Ghosts' (By ghosts, I mean female Hockey Player and 80's Retro Girlie.) before heading in to town.
Our dog, Zach, loves to see visitors.
Halloween Rose
My Mom would be totally disappointed if I didn't mention her prized garden.
So, I finish this post with Moya's Halloween Rose.
Yours truly,
Lord Frewbe
